Sustainability and Global Citizenship

"At Motherson, we work to build a company that we can hand over from generation to generation and that operates in a way that helps build a sustainable society."

Motherson sustainability philosophy

We work hard to help create a better planet (Environment), cultivate social inclusion around the world (Social) and embody the highest standards of integrity in our business dealings (Governance). We have grouped these E-S-G priority areas under the notion of sustainability. We believe that promoting sustainability is a noble and necessary cause that will improve lives across the world.

Our Carbon Net Zero Ambition

At Motherson, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility to protect and preserve our planet. Thus, in accordance with the Green House Gas Protocol, we are focusing on reducing our direct Scope 1 & 2 emissions whilst continuously evaluating Scope 3 emissions, in order to meet our ambitious target of achieving Carbon Net Zero across our current global operations by 2040.

Sustainability icon

To highlight our ESG activities, we have created a sustainability icon. It represents a tree of growth, symbolising the three areas of Environment, Social and Governance. The circles also stand for the key stakeholders for whom we do this: Investors, Customers and the Communities. Our Sustainability work at Motherson happens at the intersection of their needs and our own ambitions.

Foster sustainable practices covering E - S – G metrics

Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is becoming a common reference and way of categorising the full scope of Sustainability in business. As we aim to be a globally preferred solutions provider, we remain flexible and adaptable to changes in sustainability priorities in the industries we are part of.

We have identified key focal areas under each of the ESG parameters. Here are the areas we focus on while formulating the overall sustainability strategy and a roadmap for the future.

Environment: Preserving the planet
  • Environmental impact and climate change
  • Product, materials and technology
  • Responsible value chain
Social: Ensuring well-being and opportunities for all
  • Community and corporate citizenship
  • Diversity, equal opportunities and people development
  • Health, safety and welfare (Human Rights)
Governance: Fostering long term growth in an ethical way
  • Compliance
  • In-organic growth and strategic investment
  • Risk management and cyber security
